Finding the inspiration to write.

I originally found this book back in college. Going to a fashion school, it was a must to purchase the newest fashion books. We had a small book store in the school itself but I also frequented Strand Bookstore and obviously shopped online.
This book surprised me from the start. A short and easy read, this book contains 101 points on fashion that offer just a little more insight than what the average fashion lover brings to the table. Oddly enough I have a book called 101 Things I Learned in Fashion School and the points made in Why Fashion Matters seem to be missing. This was a fundamental addition to my fashion education that I just happened to come across. Now you can find it scattered amongst the book offerings at The MET!
This book reflects on the fundamentals of fashion and opens up the reasons why fashion persists. The author makes sure to give you an idea of just what fashion is, good or bad, and shows you that it has and always will have a major impact on our world.
I've always wanted to start a blog, something to help build a community where I take my rich fashion education and share it with the average fashion lover. Working in a fashion archive, and various fashion careers later on, I have gained such an extensive knowledge of the history, of the trends, and of the influence fashion has on culture. This book spoke deeply to me because it gave even an educated fashion mind as myself, a moment to reflect and think of the impact of a billion dollar industry.
I remember going through college and wanting to give a resource to people that want to enjoy fashion, like people do with the MET Gala and its exhibitions. I want to be that resource. I want to build a space to help people know more and look at fashion a little differently than they did before.
